Essential nutrients are vital to human health. Yet many of us do not get the correct balance of vital nutrients. A website called info-nutrients.com is ideal for people who want to understand what essential nutrients are and how they work.
Nutrients can be divided into two groups. Non-essential nutrients are those that the body can manufacture by itself. Cholesterol is a good example of a non-essential nutrient. Essential nutrients are vital for good health and normal growth. Unlike non-essential nutrients, they cannot by synthesised by the human body, or we can only produce them in amounts so tiny that they do nothing to sustain health and growth. Examples of essential nutrients include water, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and many vitamins and minerals.
In contemporary western society, many people neglect to eat all of the foods that provide vital nutrients. There are many reasons why people do not eat enough of the foods that contain essential nutrients such as vitamins and minerals.
One of the main reasons why people do not eat healthily is poverty. Junk food is cheaper than healthy food. People who live below the poverty line therefore have a higher tendency to be overweight and malnourished. The other central cause that stops people eating the way they should is lifestyle. Many people resort to eating junk food because their schedules are so busy they don’t have much time to cook a proper meal with the right balance of essential nutrients.
Fortunately, there is a way of ensuring you and your family get all of the vital nutrients you need, even if you happen to be poor. Though super markets tend to charge more for fruits and vegetables, there is nothing to stop you from growing your own. My husband and I are not struggling financially, yet we still cultivate some of our own herbs, fruits and vegetables. Of course, you cannot grow your own produce all year round. However, you can pickle or dry the things that you grow so that you will still have a source of vitamins and minerals during the inclement winter months.
As for the people who claim that they don’t have time to cook nutritious meals at home, I don’t buy it. I think people who make such claims are often simply too lazy to cook. They use lack of time as an excuse. In the time it takes to order dinner in a fast food restaurant, you could have cooked a meal. After all, not all recipes are elaborate or time consuming. Even if your excuse is valid and you work more than sixty hours per week, that’s still no reason to neglect yourself. You should at least make sure you are taking a nutrition supplement vitamin.
Every individual should have at least a basic understanding of essential nutrients. Just as anybody who drives needs to know how to put gas in the tank of their car, we should all comprehend how to put the correct fuel into our own bodies and those of our children.
